Flowing with Your Sword
Moving from one attack into another while maintaining the momentum of your weapon is an essential skill to efficient and effective sword fighting. In this lesson you learn how to flow from a downward cut from the right into one from the left.
One of the trickiest parts of this skill is letting the sword move more than your body. When you are cutting a downward X, you only step forward when the sword is making the downward motion of the cut. Your feet must then stay still as your sword continues its path back upward toward the opposite shoulder.
