Scholars Assault with Longsword

These plays are further developed and explored in variation, sometimes beginning left or right, sometimes adding pre- or post-movement. Add these plays to your technical and strategic toolbox, and use them to enrich your understanding and practice of the historical swordplay tradition.

Parts 1 & 2: Defending with the scabbard/sword against a dagger attack. Defending with the sword in one hand.

Parts 3 & 4: Exchanging the opponent's thrust (counter-thrusting), and using posta finestra to parry and cast the opponent's sword.

Parts 5 & 6: Using the armoured entry into close/grappling play. Entering play with a thrust and yeilding to the "peasant's blow".

Part 7: Exploring deflections from porta di ferro mezzana.

Scholar's Assault: The entire assault performed as a solo progression of attacks and defenses.
