Privacy & terms
Terms of Use
Last updated: September 27, 2026
1. About these terms
DuelloTV is an online swordplay training service operated by Academie Duello Ltd., operating as DuelloTV (“DuelloTV”, “we”, “us”), 412 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 1L1, Canada. Email: info@duello.tv.
These Terms of Use apply when you create an account, buy a membership or course, redeem a gift, or use any part of DuelloTV. They work together with our Cancellation & refunds policy and our Privacy Notice. By creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to these terms.
If you joined DuelloTV on our previous website under different membership terms, any terms in your original agreement that are better for you continue to apply.
2. Who can use DuelloTV
- You must be 18 or older to create an account yourself.
- If you are 13 to 17, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf and supervise your training. They are responsible for your use of DuelloTV.
- DuelloTV is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly create accounts for them.
3. Your account
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. The name on your account is the name shown on your certificates.
- One account is for one person. Do not share your sign-in, and do not let others watch on your account as a group, class or club.
- Keep your password private. Tell us straight away at info@duello.tv if you think someone else has used your account.
- You are responsible for activity on your account.
4. Memberships, purchases and gifts
- Basic accounts are free.
- Paid memberships renew automatically at the price and interval shown before checkout, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Account → Membership & billing or by emailing us. The Cancellation & refunds policy explains when access ends and when refunds apply.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number. Prices are in US dollars and include any applicable taxes.
- Price changes: if the price of a renewing membership changes, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies. You can cancel before the renewal.
- Plan changes are made through Stripe’s secure billing page. We show what changes, and when, before you confirm.
- Course purchases (“lifetime access”) give you access to that course for as long as DuelloTV offers it. If we ever retire a course you bought, or close DuelloTV, we will give you at least 90 days’ notice by email.
- Gift codes can be used once and do not expire. The recipient redeems a code in a free DuelloTV account. Buying a gift does not give the buyer access to it. For a gift membership, the buyer can see the email address of the account that received it.
- Gift memberships are prepaid for the dates shown and do not renew automatically. A recipient who starts a paid membership during a gift is not charged until the gift ends.
5. Using our content
Our videos, lessons, notes, drills, plans and other materials are owned by Academie Duello Ltd. or our licensors and are protected by copyright.
We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to stream and use them for your own training while you have access. You may use what you learn in your own practice and teaching. You may not:
- download, record, copy or capture videos or Live classes (except materials we offer as downloads);
- share, sell, publish, broadcast or screen our materials, or show them to a group, class or club;
- share your account or let others use your access;
- get around access controls, scrape the site, or use automated tools to collect content.
“DuelloTV” and “Academie Duello” are our trademarks.
6. Live classes
- Class times are shown in the time zone set on your profile. We may occasionally reschedule or cancel a class. We will tell registered members as early as we can.
- You register for Live classes through Zoom, and Zoom’s own terms and privacy policy apply to your registration and attendance.
- Recordings: we record Live classes so members can watch them later. Our recordings are set to show only the instructor and any shared screen, so participants’ video is not normally included. If you ask a question aloud, your voice may be heard in the recording; you can type questions in the chat instead. If you appear in a recording and would like that part removed, contact us and we will edit or remove it.
- Masters Club coaching calls are recorded and shared with Masters Club members. They are conversations, so if you speak or turn on your camera, your voice and image may be included. If you’d rather not appear, keep your camera off and type your questions in the chat.
- Do not record, photograph or rebroadcast Live classes yourself.
- Be respectful to the instructor and other members. We may remove anyone who disrupts a class or harasses others.
7. Training safety and your responsibility
Swordplay and martial arts training is a physical activity. It carries a real risk of injury, including sprains, strains, bruises, falls, eye and head injuries, and injuries from striking people or objects. DuelloTV teaches by video, so we cannot see you train, check your technique or supervise your space.
When you train with DuelloTV, you agree to:
- Check your health. Talk to a doctor before starting if you have a medical condition, injury or any doubt about your fitness. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness or discomfort.
- Train within your ability and build up gradually.
- Use a suitable training tool. Never train with a sharp sword. Use the trainer each lesson recommends, and check it for damage before you train.
- Clear your space. Make sure you have room to move and swing without hitting people, pets, furniture, ceilings or light fixtures.
- Use protective equipment for partner work. Only do partner drills with a willing partner, at a controlled speed, wearing appropriate protection (at least a fencing mask and gloves when blades are used against each other).
- Follow each lesson’s own safety guidance.
- Supervise minors. A parent or guardian must supervise anyone under 18.
- Obey local laws on owning, carrying and using swords and training weapons.
You take part voluntarily and accept these risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of anyone you train with.
8. Certificates
Completion certificates confirm that you completed a DuelloTV course. They are not rank, grading or instructor certification. Rank and instructor certification are earned through Academie Duello’s in-person programme.
Each certificate has a public verification link that shows only your name, the course and the issue date. Anyone you share the link with can see those details. Certificates show your current account name.
9. The service
- We work to keep DuelloTV available and accurate, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
- We may update, reorganise or retire content and features. Course purchases are protected as described in section 4.
- We do not guarantee any particular training result.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be limited, including British Columbia’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for injury or damage arising from your training, except where caused by our negligence;
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid DuelloTV in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Suspending or closing accounts
- You can close your account at any time by emailing info@duello.tv. Cancel any paid membership first (or ask us to), so that it does not renew.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, for example by sharing access, redistributing content, fraud, or abusive behaviour. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
- If we close your account for a breach, refunds apply only where the law requires. If we close your account for any other reason, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid membership and give you the notice described in section 4 for course purchases.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For significant changes, we will email you and show a notice on the site at least 30 days before they take effect. The changes apply from the next renewal of a paid membership, or from the date shown for other use. If you do not accept a change, you can cancel before it applies.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction, except where consumer law in the place you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.

- Learning: the lessons you complete, your quiz answers and scores, practice you log, self-assessments, saved drills and courses, and where you are in each course.
- Masters Club notes: the plans, notes and reflections you write. These are free text, so please do not include health or other sensitive information you would not want us to hold.

- Records from the previous DuelloTV site: if you were a member on our previous website, we have carried over your account, membership and purchase history and your learning records so that you keep your access and progress.
Information collected automatically
- Sign-in and security: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a security cookie that protects forms. To slow down abuse, we record a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for a short time. See section 7.
- Hosting logs: our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to run and protect the site.
- Administrator actions: when a DuelloTV administrator changes your account (for example, to fix a billing problem), we keep a record of what was changed, by whom and why.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics on DuelloTV.

- withdraw consent to optional emails at any time;
- ask us to delete your account and personal information, except records we must keep by law;
- complain to us, and to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Email info@duello.tv to make a request. We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
9. Children
DuelloTV is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Members aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian’s agreement. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, hashed passwords, encrypted sign-in tokens, checks against known leaked passwords, limits on repeated sign-in attempts, and access restricted to DuelloTV administrators, with a record of their changes. No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the relevant privacy commissioner as the law requires.

Cancellation & refunds
Effective September 14, 2026. Stronger existing agreements and applicable consumer rights are preserved.
Cancel your membership
Cancel at any time without a cancellation fee through Account → Membership & billing or by emailing info@duello.tv. We will confirm the cancellation and the date your paid access ends. A cancellation received before renewal stops that renewal; if processing takes longer and a payment is taken, we will correct it.
Monthly memberships
Ordinary cancellation stops your next renewal. You keep membership access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not routinely refund unused days of a monthly membership, except under the guarantees below or where your existing agreement or applicable law provides otherwise.
Three-month memberships
Choose immediate cancellation with a refund for unused days, or choose to keep access through your paid period and stop the next renewal. Request immediate cancellation and a refund through our support form or by email. We calculate unused days from the date of your cancellation request, using the actual amount paid and actual days in that billing period. We do not reprice the time you used at the higher monthly rate. This applies to the initial and renewed three-month periods. We send a renewal reminder 7 days before the renewal date, with the amount, currency, date and cancellation instructions.
14-day first-payment guarantee
If your membership is not right for you, request a full refund within 14 calendar days of your first successful membership payment, including the first payment after a trial. This guarantee applies once per person, rather than after each restart or plan change. A refund under this guarantee also ends that paid subscription and future renewals.
14-day course and gift refunds
Request a full refund within 14 calendar days of payment for a course, course pack or course gift, even if viewing has started. Gift refunds use the original purchase date and go to the purchaser. A refund removes only the access supplied by that purchase, including access supplied to a recipient by a redeemed gift. Independently acquired access remains intact.
Accidental renewals
If you renewed by mistake, request a full refund of the most recent renewal within seven calendar days. We offer this once per customer as a goodwill policy. This refund ends the refunded membership period and future renewals. The once-per-customer limit does not restrict billing-error corrections, quarterly unused-time refunds or your legal rights.
Billing mistakes and service problems
We correct duplicate or erroneous charges and payments taken after a valid cancellation. If we cannot supply paid content or reasonably resolve a service problem, we will offer an appropriate refund. These cases are not restricted to the voluntary refund windows above.
How to request a refund
Use the support form or email info@duello.tv with your account email and the membership or purchase concerned. Do not send passwords or card details. We aim to process refunds within five business days of your request and will meet any shorter applicable deadline. Refunds go to the original payment method without an administration fee. Your bank may take additional time to show the refund.
Your existing learning, purchases and rights
Ending a membership preserves your Basic account, learning records and independently purchased courses. We preserve stronger existing promises and all applicable consumer rights. Any changes to existing terms follow the applicable notice or agreement process.
