The offhand isn't just an ornament which makes us look awesome when lunging. It is an excellent tool we can utilize to protect ourselves when things get a little hairy, to constrain the opponents sword to get it to move or just as an extra layer of protection during our attack. This month we will be exploring use of the offhand in various scenarios. If you feel adventurous, feel free to bring along a dagger, or a serving spoon.
We will also continue to explore some of Fabris’ guards at the end of each class. Our text comes from Tom Leoni’s translation (Fabris (lulu.com)) and I will post a picture of the guard we will be covering each week (pictures from Guy Windsor).
Full disclosure, sometimes we get side-tracked in class so apologies if the video turns out a little different than expected.
