Countering Point On-Line Fencers (Sidesword Scholar)

Countering an opponent who keeps their point always on the center.

In this series we’ll explore how to counter and control an opponent who is trying to force gioco stretto (point on line fencing). You’ll learn:

  • Clearing the center and opening up gioco largo (wide play)
  • Dealing with common counters such as disengaging and collecting
  • Controlling the center through advantage
  • Safely provoking the point on-line fencer through feints, invitations, and earnest attacks.

This series is great to do with a partner or sword dummy.
