Inviting the Opponent to Dance (Sidesword Scholar)

How to lure and counter the opponent through invitation, footwork, and wide play.

In this series we’ll explore how to lure a timid opponent into the fight and how to cue an aggressive opponent to attack right when you want them to. You’ll learn and refine:

  • The invitational provocations
  • Gioco largo (wide play) defenses and counters from the larga and high guards
  • Powerful exiting and reentering footwork

This series is a scholar level series that assumes a proficiency with all of the core guards, attacks, and defenses of sidesword as well as of the True Fight.
