The downward X cut with the longsword is straight forward but essential to regular practice. Today focus on fluidity of motion and not letting the sword cross your centreline behind your back. Each cut should flow powerfully and fluidly into the next. With the rapier we’re focusing on passing lunges from the refused posture (where the sword side is withdrawn). This is a great drill for working on coordination of footwork. This can also be adapted to longsword.
