Today’s two exercises are a great pair. The first focuses on developing body and sword connection in the cut by making the absolute largest cuts you can. The second, for rapier, focuses on developing quick feet and coordination into the lunge and passing lunge. Longsword practitioners would do well to do today’s rapier drill as well.
