Tomorrow’s Livestream Postponed!

Hey all!

Greg here. Just a quick note to say that tomorrow (Sunday’s) livestream is postponed. We’re still working on all sorts of technical and travel and schedule issues, unfortunately. Just couldn’t get this one together in time.

Dispair not! Next week’s broadcast is on. We’ll see everyone there at 11:00 am PST on Sunday, December 4. Here’s the link:

Missed the Nov 17 debut? It was pretty fun and informative. You can see it here, with handy topic time markers and all.

See you there!

Weekly Livestream now in Beta

One of the most difficult parts of pursuing mastery of an art is holding yourself accountable to your own training and growth. So that’s why Greg and I are going to beta a new weekly livestream.

For at least the next four Sundays at 11:00 am PST we’ll be online and welcoming the members of the HEMA community from around the world. The goal of these sessions is to:

1. Share training goals.

Telling someone else your goals can be one of the most effective accountability tools.

2. Check in on progress toward those goals.

Like our yearly 30-for-30 Swordplay Challenge we want to offer a forum where you can shout out your successes and work through your blocks.

3. Answer training & technical questions.

We’ll be there, sword in hand, to answer technical questions and give advice on how to train and practice effectively. If you have questions about Duello.TV content or from other sources, bring them along.

Our first session is this Sunday (the 20th). Whether you’re a Duello.TV subscriber, an Italian Swordplay practitioner, or from a completely different school and art, you are welcome to join us. There’s no cost and no barrier to participation—it’s open to everyone. If all goes well we’re planning to expand future online interaction to guide students taking specific courses.

Simply follow this link at 11:00 am PST on Sunday, November 20 and you’ll be able to see us live and join in by chat.

Last Chance to get a $9.95 Duello.TV All-Access Video Subscription

Greetings everyone! Duello.TV (DTV) has had a pretty amazing few years of growth, exposure and development. In just five years, we’ve gone from a collection of about 20 videos to over 400—the largest repository of Historical European Martial Arts content on the Internet.

Last time I did a calculation there was more than 60 DVDs worth of lesson content. It is also one of the most mature, systematic, and complete approaches to the longsword, rapier, sidesword, grappling, and polearms, born out of more than 20 years of experience and exposure to literally thousands of students.

Greg and I are now hard at work on some exciting changes to DTV for the new year. New features will make it even easier to access and learn from the content on DTV as well as creating even better content for individuals and groups. We think you’ll really like what we’re doing.

What this means is that after December 6, 2015 we’re no longer selling all-access video subscriptions on DTV in its current form. In January 2016 we’ll open the door to the new DTV, which will instead focus on individual learning paths, guided study and community support. If you’re already a Paid Subscriber, or you sign-up for a paid subscription before December 6, 2015, you can keep accessing the hundreds of teaching videos of DTV as you see it now for only $9.95 per month, which is pretty amazing!

Being a subscriber will not only help us make this new version as excellent as we can, it will also give you advanced access to the new content and structure as well as the opportunity to help guide the new version.

If you’re already a subscriber, thank you so much for your support. It has meant a lot to Greg and me. If you’re not, click here to sign-up as an all-access Paid Subscriber before December 6, 2015!

If you don’t want to become a paid subscriber, sign-up for a Free Membership to access free weekly content and to get news and updates on what’s coming up.

For our Free Members, don’t worry you’ll still get access to weekly content and we’ll keep you in the loop on developments too.

I’ll have more to share here about the new version in the coming two weeks. Stay tuned and please spread the word!

PS. The Academie Duello February Instructor Intensive is nearly full. If you’ve been thinking of joining, now is the time to sign up.

Basic Courses

DuelloTV has a swordplay video instruction library unmatched anywhere in its breadth and depth. But the videos were long, hard to browse topic-by-topic, and weren’t very interactive. That’s changing.

We’ve been working extremely hard behind the scenes, and today we’re proud to begin our roll-out of online swordplay courses at two levels: Premium and Basic.

All of our new courses will offer bite-sized video topics from 1-3 minutes long. Track your progress as you make your way through the course, and pick up where you left off last time you visited the site. They work great on any device: phone, tablet or desktop.

Basic Courses

Basic courses contain high quality, individual step-by-step topic videos.

Every course on DTV (over 50 of them!) will have a simplified basic counterpart—just the video content in topic-by-topic segments. Track your progress as you watch them all. The basic courses will be built out much faster than the premium courses, so look for new courses to be completed and ready for you often!

Access all basic courses via Scholars Club or Masters Club subscription. Basic Course Packs will soon be available to allow a one-time purchase for lifetime access.

Of Course There’s FREE

We like free. That’s why we’ve always made our high quality Quick Start courses for Longsword and Rapier available to all members at no charge. If you haven’t yet tried them, jump in and see what they’re about. With video topics, quizzes and practice notes, we’re sure even experienced practitioners will get something out of them.

You can also read the training blog for free. Our blog currently hosts over 230 articles on swordplay, training, tournament, teaching, motivation—pretty much anything you can image connected with studying any martial art. Subscribe for full blog archive access.
